What kind of flowers are good to plant during the summer?

What kind of flowers are good to plant during the summer months (considering the hot weather and such). I live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth are of Texas if that helps. These are perennials:
periwinkles best to get the plants. Hard to grow from seeds.
Petunias
zinnas
four o’clocks
marigold
spider flower

Impatiens are good, they like shade but can tolerate some sun also. They come in many colors.
Lantana likes dry hot weather and it will come back next year but it needs a little more sun.
