By admin | August 25, 2008
I’m interested in breeding flowers and plants and making hybrids and was just wondering what species of plants and flowers are good for this kind of hobby.
I’m looking for plants and flowers that have male and female and have varied colors, shapes and sizes etc. I want to grow many different ones and mix them and pick and chose the qualitys for the next generations.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

What cut flowers will die in less than a week?
By admin | August 24, 2008
I have to do an experiment to compare the effects of different substances in the water of cut flowers, to see how long they will survive. eg. one will have bleach, another will have lemon juice. etc. the experiment will have to be conducted over one week. so I need flowers that once cut, will die in about 6-7 days. does any of yous know ones that will suit?

What are some flowers that bloom all year long or last a long time?
By admin | August 23, 2008
I want to make flower gardens in my yard, but I want flowers that bloom often or last a long time. I don’t like flowers that last 2 days and then they are gone.
Thanks for answering this.

I want to decorate my home with real flowers that are able to be maintained indoors and will grow year round. Because we live in an apartment, I am not able to go outside and play with soil and such, but I really would like to get some flowers that I can keep indoors, grow, and maintain.

what flowers to use in autumn table centerpiece?
By admin | August 18, 2008
I am planning a large, informal activity for our church. The theme is “Autumn Nights”. Just to give you an idea of the direction I’m going…instead of a standard refreshment table we’re doing a Caramel Apple bar, with quartered apples, a couple fondue fountains with caramel and chocolate, and some crushed nuts, butterfinger, etc…for people to dip their apples in. I am definitely going to use autumn leaves to decorate, and a full moon, but I don’t know what to use on the tables. There will be 8 - 10 small round tables and I would like to make centerpieces that are low but I don’t know where to go to get inspiration for which flowers to use or anything. Any ideas? Thanks!

What are good flowers to start with for a novice gardener?
By admin | August 18, 2008
Hello. I have sandy soil, live in Michigan, zone 5. The area I want flowers in is about 6×10. The area gets full sun all day and most sun after 2pm. House faces west, the flowers are to be in the front of the house. What flowers are really easy to start with, and what combinations should I use. Any really good websites anyone knows of could help too.

Any ideas on what flowers grow in shaded areas?
By admin | August 14, 2008
I have a flower bed up against the back of my house and which is completely covered by the overhead deck. I want to plant some plants there, but don’t know which flowers grow best in very shaded areas? Also there is a large rabbit population in my neighborhood and would like to plant flowers that the rabbits wouldn’t be so eager to eat.
Thank you in advance.
If cat hair works, would dog hair do????
Itsmyopinion - haha what a smart@$$ remark - I like it, sounds like something I would say.
Wow!!!
Thanks for the ideas, keep them coming.

what flowers grow well on the northside of a house?
By admin | August 12, 2008
I live in Oregon and just moved into a new house. I’m planning on planting some flowers in the yard but most of my options are for the north side of the house. Is anyone an expert on which flowers and ground cover will do well without receiving direct sunlight?
Thank you.
