Jonathon Boundy asked:

When we think back on all the occasions of our lives, be it something as grand as a wedding, or a graduation, or a birthday, or even something as mundane as a trip to the hospital, or a date with a loved one, flowers were surely present. Whether they came in a huge bundle of carnations and tulips and roses, or whether it was just in a form of a single red rose, there seems to be just the right kind of flower for every mood. And it seems that all life’s momentous occasions, flowers are involved for a very good reason - flowers carry potent emotional messages.

Experts have long ago concluded that the emotional appeal of flowers is a reality. Flowers really do strike a chord in the recesses of our emotional and psychological wellbeing. A whiff of a fragrance of any flower arrangement can immediately uplift our senses the way no other object can. However, it is perhaps the dazzling array of colors, hues, shades in a flower arrangement that holds the emotional appeal of flowers for every one of us, regardless of age or gender. Psychologists have attested to the power of color in our lives, and there’s no more beautiful image of a gathering of colors than the image of an excellent flower arrangement. It seems as if the colors of flowers appeal to the vast arsenal of emotions to help us choose which flower arrangement can best express our feelings. Indeed, just the mere presence of flowers can heighten feelings of happiness and ultimately affect behavior.

In fact, a team of researchers even explored the connections between flowers and life satisfaction. This 10-month research shows that flowers have an immediate effect on happiness, that flowers have a long-term positive effect on moods and that flowers help form and develop intimate connections. The emotional appeal of flowers, it seems, extends all the way to our mental and emotional well-being.

We can invite all sorts of emotions using just about any color of the rainbow. Red stands for energy, passion and seduction. Red flowers, especially those which come with rich and fragrant aromas are perfect for igniting romance and rekindling love. Flowers which have the orange hue recall fresh citrus fruits. Dark orange reminds us of sunsets or the flames of a fire. Mixed with other hues, orange flowers can help restore a sense of peace and calm in times of stress. The emotional appeal of flowers truly lies in the color of the flowers.

Yellow calls to mind a bright, sunny day. Yellow flowers are often the focal point in a flower arrangement, as yellow also reminds us of the stars glowing in the pitch-black night. A somewhat more neutral color is green. The emotional appeal of green flowers lies in the fact that green flowers stand for good fortune, perhaps because it also seems to remind us of money. Blue flowers symbolize peace, and blues, especially those in soft, pale hues, can offer tranquility for both the mind and body.

Those looking for more luxury and elegance in their flower arrangements should consider the color violet. The emotional appeal of flowers that come in shades of purple and violet are due to the fact that purples and violets are quite sensuous colors. They also stand for sophistication and passion and are also therefore perfect for those special occasions.

Flowers - Nature’s emotional messengers.

Adam

Daniel McDowell asked:

Flower arrangements can take the form of bouquets, centerpieces, or wreaths according to the occasion. The distinctiveness of the flower arrangement depends on the type of flowers used – apart from fresh flowers; there can be artificial flowers like silk flowers, custom silk flowers, dried flowers, candy flowers, edible flowers used in the floral arrangement.

During the 18th century the Italians were the pioneer in the artificial flower arrangement followed by the French. Today it is popular in England and America alike. The primary requirement for the artificial flower arrangements are- wire frames, ground clay, nylon netting, carved or shaped soap paper, painted linen, small shells and silkworm cocoons.

Some of the methods for preparing artificial flower arrangements are:

· Clay flower arrangements – Here ground clay is made into a paste by adding water. Colors are then applied to this modeling paste, which is shaped into flowers by a skilled craftsman.

· Soap flower arrangements – In this method a bar with layered colored soap is amassed on a lathe to produce a circular groove. This floral arrangement is symmetric and regular.

· Cloth and paper flower arrangement – Here different fabrics and materials are given the shape of leaves and flowers. Next with the help of a dye, the veins of the leaves are impressed on the arrangement. They are then assembled on a brass or iron stalk.

The convenience of dried flower arrangement is that they can be altered according to one’s choice. A bit of concern is required while choosing the color, texture and shape of the flowers. To enhance the beauty of a dried flower arrangement the container and the color of the room should be kept in mind.

The most common options for dried flower arrangements are:

1. Floral tree – an entire tree of dried flowers can be designed complete with real branches and a cone shaped piece of dry foam for the top. The container is filled with plaster of Paris and the tree trunk can be covered with moss. The arrangement is complete with different kinds of dried flowers and leaves.

2. Basic dried flower arrangement – the design is primarily given shape with say, lavender or straw on the foam inside the container. Then flowers like coxcomb and hydrangeas are inserted interspersed with dried roses or straw flowers.

Fake flower arrangements primarily constitute of silk flower arrangements.

The motive is to make the artificial flower arrangement as realistic as possible. Silk flower arrangement has become hugely popular for being durable and cost-effective. There are custom silk flower arrangement that can be designed and altered according to the changing choice, mood and decor. Things that should be kept in mind for making a silk flower arrangement are:

The base should be strong enough to bear the weight. Clay should be used instead of foam.

The wires of the silk flower stems should be easy to bend. A good wire cutter is needed.

Glue should be sprayed on top of the base and then covered slowly with moss.

Big flowers should always be inserted at the focal area. The stems of the flowers should be long enough for easy insertion. Small flowers should be kept in place with a glue-gun.

With good floral design ideas silk flower arrangement can be rewarding in many ways.

The edible flower arrangement is done for wedding and party cakes. Flowers are so selected that they are edible. A candy flower arrangement is a confectionary product which is also pleasing to the eyes. For example a strawberry rose has its stalk portion made of bark-colored chocolate with a sprig of candied leaves. The head includes a strawberry encased within a candied mould.

Ella

I’m having a hard time finding flowers to go with my theme. I was hoping to find a dark brown accent flower, with maybe some ivory calililys, or even hydrangia. Since I’m having such a hard time, I’ve been thiking of adding a little bit of color to the whole scheme, but that would totally defeat the whole chocolate idea, unless I did like a minty green or a sage.
Ron Mark asked:

There are so many social events throughout the year which require flower gifting and make us depend on the services of a reliable florist. From cheerful events like birthdays and anniversaries to sad events like funerals, sending flowers helps us express our feelings of love, joy and sympathy. Sometimes we even want to send flowers on a spur of the moment impulse, to show someone how much we really care. At rosetteflorist.com you will find gorgeous flowers by Montreal florists you can rely on.

Sending flowers is a meaningful gesture that helps us express our feelings in a number of situations. From feelings of love and joy to sadness and sympathy, flowers let your loved ones know that you are there to support them through whatever. Sending flowers spontaneously without any particular occasion is a much appreciated gesture as well. Most people however don’t have the time to go to their local florist and select the flowers, preferring to order online or by telephone. However, if you’re planning to order flowers online, using a Montreal flower delivery service, you should still turn to a real local florist which you can rely on. To avoid getting ripped-off by fictional online florists you should choose flowers by Montreal florists like Rosette Florist.

These days, florist and Montreal flower delivery services are very complex, meeting your every requirement. However, the vast majority of Montreal florists have plenty of options to offer, including Mother’s Day flowers, Valentine’s Day flowers, new baby flowers, corporate gift flowers or funeral arrangements. Flowers can be ordered directly from your local florist’s shop, online or by telephone, depending how much time you’ve got on your hands. Ordering flowers from a real local florist is always the best option as you will be safe from any fraudulent online florists that never deliver what they’ve promised.

A florist shop deals with everything from obtaining fresh flowers, to making flower arrangements and having them delivered. I was wondering what kinds of plants and flowers are available for that time of year? I know florists can get you just about anything but I am working with a smaller budget and was thinking about buying potted plants and flowers from a nursery to add greenery and color. The wedding will be outside so I need some plants to liven up our garden that will be mostly dormant by that time. This has been very last minute news and I have no idea what to do. Any suggestions?

Susan
